How I Organize My Garden Seeds (Using a Photo Box)
every year I promise myself I'll write about how I organize my seeds...and every year the season slips by before I do.
I’ve been meaning to share how I organize my seeds for ages. But every time I’m ready to write about it, the season ends, and I’m suddenly busy figuring out when I’ll harvest seeds from the year. By then, it’s too late.
This is what my entryway looked like in Autumn…
Before and after every growing season, it’s important to take inventory. It’s taken me many years to figure out what I want to plant, and my seed collection grows a little more every season. I’ve been using this plastic photo box container to organize my seeds.
This container holds 18 storage boxes. It’s normally meant for photos, but it works really well as a way to store your seeds.
I repurposed small sticker labels from my collection and labeled each one. I covered each label with another piece of tape cuz who knows what will happen when I take things outside.
Inside, I have a guide on a big index card for the boxes. I wrote some notes on what I harvested last year. Not all of the containers are filled, which is totally fine. It’s a process!
I made my own seed envelopes from small 2x3 white envelopes and ink.
It’s a small way to get excited about planting seeds!
I make sure to date them too ;)
Hopefully, these seeds will find a place in my garden this year.
My greatest joy? Making a bouquet out of things I’ve grown and saving a photo of it in my binder.
I hope this inspires you to get your garden stuff organized as you start planning for the growing season.
