Hello, thank you for being here. I must confess that I have been OVERthinking about what I want this space to be and it’s really getting in the way of me actually figuring out how to do it. The truth of the matter is that I want to build a place for me to share my love for handwriting and my creative process with other like-minded people and build a community (of support!) in the process.
Are you cool with that? Awesome.
I have plans for online hangouts and hopefully real-life meetups too. I’ll also be sharing happy mail and how this online community kept me going through my grief. My goal is to inspire your everyday life and get you excited about working on your own creative routine.
Now that that’s out of the way, it’s time to talk about January!
In a perfect world, I would have had this post done at the beginning of January. My intention would have been to share my pages with those who are doing the Currently Workbook project too. But, life got in the way! I had some major printing errors and delays which caused quite a mess on the back end. I now have some Currently Workbooks that finally made their way to my house (a month late!). If you’re feeling like you’d want to start working on one too, you can get one in my shop (they’re discounted!).
I’d like to walk you through my January spreads since 2019 (the year I started my first workbook).
First Currently Workbook - 2019
I was really scared to mess it up and used it as a place to jot down parts of the month and then I added art to it after the fact. After a few months of play, I decided to make the monthly pages a whole spread of ART. I have enjoyed playing around with new mediums and seeing how images can help me remember what that month was like in my life.
Second Currently Workbook- 2020
January is when citrus is in season and I just always love how it brings brightness around. This one was all colored pencils. The pops of yellow and orange on my kitchen counters make me happy during this time of year and I wanted to capture that in my January pages.
Third Currently Workbook- 2021
I am really grateful that I had this practice going on during the pandemic. At this point, we were almost through the first year of the pandemic. I played around with pens on this one. I started a love affair with yellow, orange, and pink around this time. I suppose I was trying to muster up all hope in color form with this January spread.
Fourth Currently Workbook- 2022
I tried playing with collage for this one. It’s just a combo of cut-up magazines and my favorite glue stick. For the past few years, I’ve been working on vision boarding at the beginning of the year with my friend Neiley. This is what I had in mind for 2022.
Fifth Currently Workbook 2023
If you read the earlier post about my yearly Tarot Spread ritual, you’ll see a copy of my year in my January spread. The page on the left is decorated with thermal printer labels I have. I realized that January always has some type of bright color theme so here we go!
