I’ve been keeping journals since I was about 19. It started off in art school (when I didn’t have my family around to snoop!) and has turned into one of my healthiest coping mechanisms in the past 20ish years. It’s also a visual journey of how practice can improve things-like handwriting and creative art skills.
Here, I will show you the trail of magic I have to look at only because I took the time to invest in self-preservation through self-reflection and art.
My journals are full of growth, notes, art, and allll the feelings.
Here are some pages to sample:
Things I have noticed: I like to take a lot of notes.
I write notes to myself when I need them. Notes to process feelings. Future me appreciates the notes from the past Tracy.
The timing of them always feels quite magical. Like getting the right fortune in your fortune cookie.
Sometimes I ask myself questions to ponder.
Sometimes I practice writing quotes for my blog.
Sometimes I totally forget what I was making notes from.
It’s a fun mystery to solve.
Here’s a poll I asked Instagram one day. I have a lot of them and it’s fun to read through!
I’m glad I keep a visual record of things.
It’s the best way for me to process information. It also helps me remember things when I’ve written them down.
I wonder where I saw this or if came from my brain?
Going through the past can be helpful in understanding who you are now. You can see how far you’ve come.
The ones from college are going to be fun to look at.
I just know it!
