September 2025
inside my Currently Workbook!
Let’s process SEPTEMBER!! September was Septembery.
Here are my pages from my Currently Workbook for September. You can watch them unfold in this video below!
My art was inspired by…
This photo I took.
September always feels kind of New Year like to me. It’s the school schedule that makes it feel like a threshold. Hopskotch is how I see it in my head.
For my spread, I used a combination of India ink in a water brush, Sharpie paint pens, and washi tape.
(You can see my favorite journaling supplies on Amazon here)
In September, I started Practice Pages!!! It’s a paid subscriber thing for my Substack community. I’m hosting two monthly zoom calls to help you check in with yourself/journals/workbooks. As you can see here, I practiced the word PRACTICE. I love playing around with color combos and seeing how I can make new colors when they cross over.

All the good things.
I liked coloring in the boxes this month.
All the times I moved my body/closed my Apple watch rings in September (tracked with my monthly printable)
All my tiny little joys for September:
Let’s get into it!
Practice Pages notes.
I am creating a getting to know you exercise.
This month, I worked really hard to manage my screen time. I got myself a BRICK in the Summer. It lives on my fridge, and I lock myself out of the internet/social media every night, an hour before sleep, and see how long I can go in the morning without unbricking it. I have to walk downstairs to unlock it, so that creates a nice barrier for me. Starting the morning by looking at my phone is a trap. THESE ARE THE TIMES WE LIVE IN.
Our (school) schedule has been all over the place (was in the car a lot), and the world feels so chaotic every day. I am trying to monitor how much of my time is dedicated to staying up-to-date with what’s going on in the world without letting it consume my life. Maybe you can relate?
I tried to focus more on creating than consuming.
In person > online
I/We all have so many tabs open.
We are also in our junior year of high school as parents, and there’s so much to learn about the college admission process.
Shootings, politics, social unrest, our economy, the patriarchy, health care, food safety, and security. Oh, and there was an earthquake here on top of it all. I am missing 148239 other things on the list, including my Mom. Our algorithms know/feed what’s on our existential crisis list(s).
I tried to find the light. I gave myself some art projects to work on. I tried to work on slowing down and resetting my nervous system.
I poured a lot of my energy into my workbook and getting my head into 2026.
If you made it this far, pre-order a Currently Workbook for 2026.
My goal is to get you one by the end of the month. We shall see what happens with all the tariffs and stuff. (thank you!!!)
I made many flower arrangements from my yard. Picked the last of the sunflowers. This was a good learning year in my garden.
Harvesting seeds from my garden kept me busy. I plan on dropping these off at the library soon. They were grown from the seeds I got there in the spring.
I channeled my inner Virgo during Virgo season and figured out what belongs and what doesn’t. So many lists! So many bags donated.
I took over the dining room table a million times with art/sorting projects.
I focused on making a place to ground myself, thanks to the help of friends.
Ladies craft date with two of my mentors. I posted this photo of one of my craft spreads, and it went viral on Substack this month :)
A few photo walking adventures in the city filled me up this month, too.
I made quite a few airport drop-offs/pickups.
Tiktok & Youtube (probably too much)

I am a happy member of the magical world of free mini libraries, and I am not giving back into the system as much as I should. In September, I offered up some of my hoard and tried not to bring any books back home with me. It was somewhat of a success. I parted with about 50 (!) books and left all over my county with a few food journals and intentions for the week planners peppered in.
I also checked out over 13 library books and hoarded them in my bedroom for a bit. I will find a (temporary) place for them.
I love books.
pages from my Hobonichi cousin for I LOVE LISTS this month:
The songs I had on repeat have a color theme according to Spotify:
I also got into playing Gregorian chants while doing housework. We will save that for another time.
My family was gone a lot this month. Cooper is doing a lot of traveling baseball things (exciting!), so I have been cooking for just myself a lot. They were in Arizona, Reno, and Chicago. I am learning that Summer is the time when I meal prep less. In September, I broke the seal, cleaned out my fridge, and did meal prep.
While they were gone, I saw what meal prep was like when I bought myself a family meal from Whole Foods. I ate a lot of salad that week. This was too much chicken for one person. I froze some of it.
I got my head in the game by culling some Easy Back to School Dinners.
Other things I ate this month:
Went through a baked oatmeal phase:
Hooray for healthy snacks to go. This is how I mom myself.
my health
my family
