Let’s wrap up the past year in my Currently Workbook!
2024 marked my sixth year using this workbook to document my life while practicing handwriting and art.
This year felt especially meaningful because, for the first time, I accomplished all of my yearly intentions. I credit this success to working with my friend MC on defining goals that were both realistic and broad enough to remain flexible. Sharing my intentions out loud with participants in our in-person and online workshops last year also played a huge role in keeping me accountable and motivated.
My word for the year was RITUAL, and in 2024, I focused on maintaining and enhancing my workout ritual. One key to my success was creating a vision board, which I kept visible in my garage-turned-gym. Seeing it daily while working out kept me inspired and reminded me of my intentions throughout the year.
Through tracking, I ended the year with a streak of 335 days of consecutive movement. In total, I worked out 356 times in 2024. WAHOOOOO.
What made this year different from the last? By adding a galaxy light to my workout routine, I turned my workout time into a sacred space where I could not only strengthen my body but also nurture my soul.
I built a Sunday ritual of checking in with myself and others called Self-Check-In.
I made a template for us to go over to check in with ourselves.
We started on week 8 of 2024 which means I hosted 44 total.
I also had a 33 day streak of working on morning pages. You can read more of that here:
Here are all of my montly spreads in my Currently Workbook this year.
January 2024
Kicking the year off with pulling tarot cards and saying my goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024. Let the rituals begin!
February 2024
February was wordy!!! I wrote out a whole thing by Louise Hay.
March 2024
I used some stuff from my spring collage kit and made this little vignette. I really like how the eggs turned out.
April 2024
I got all graphic with April. We had some eclipses and weird things happened cosmically. April was a doozy. This is a nod to the divine feminine.
May 2024
Launched the first season of Keep Grief Weird with my friend MC McDonald, PhD. I learned so much about grief this past year. A whole new level of healing was achieved and I am so grateful for that and friendship!
June 2024
Learned more about tarot cards & Summer solstice by taking a class with Laurie Blackwell & Hanna McElroy. Pulled cards and then put it down on paper. I love this spread.
July 2024
Did some teaching and learning in July. Manifested manifestation kits.
August 2024
August brought in some healing and understanding. Connecting to myself and my spirit through river time. I am glad I have a place to process it all on the page.
September 2024
I shot film in September and played with one of the photos I printed. I went a little nuts with ink but I love the color story I made! I like who I see in the mirror.
October 2024
The ghosts of October haunted the pages. I went heavy on stickers from my favorite sticker book.
November 2024
November pages helped me process another holiday season without my Mom. I finally put two & two together and realized that November always brings a Beaver moon and my Mom’s name was Beverly (means beaver meadow). That pleased me greatly so I did some research on what it meant.
December 2024
December reminded me that you can find tiny little joys everywhere. Even on a grocery bag. The goal is always to leave a trail of magic behind.
Over the past year, I dedicated myself to building a YouTube channel for The Handwriting Club. Each month, I set up my camera to create timelapse videos of my spreads, capturing the creative process in action. One of my intentions for 2024 was to LEARN, and wow, did I learn a lot! From filming to editing, each step challenged me to grow. I’m proud of how much my editing skills and artistic abilities have flourished this year. There was a podcast too- Keep Grief Weird!
In my currently workbook, I have a section in the back for self-portraits. You can see them all going back to 2019 in this post here:
This is what 2024 brought! I had some fun with photos this year.
I get my photos printed at Parabo Press because I like the thickness of the paper they use.
Another workbook done!
If you are working on a Currently Workbook and use Facebook, I have a private Facebook group if you want to share your pages in a community of like-minded women. If you are a paid subscriber here on Substack, I am going to have a monthly hangout/show + tell to help you finish your pages each month.
Our first hangout will be Friday 01/31. Probably sometime after 5PM PST.
More details on that soon!
I’ll have more Currently Workbooks coming to me on the 16th. You have the whole month to get started on yours. If you can’t commit to a whole workbook, here’s a digtal download of the workbook so you can do whatever parts of the process that interests you!
